KBNC Accountants, also known as KMO Business Consult, is an accounting office in Mechelen. Over more than 20 years it has built a package of accounting, social, tax, financial and administrative services. The office sets itself apart from a large structure with departments: an ITAA-certified accountant deals with the client and the manager personally remains the file manager. Junior and senior staff also work on files, but the point of contact does not change. The office sums this up as a transparent way of working, with a file known from start to finish.

Clients are mainly SMEs and the self-employed, consultants, liberal professions, starters, freelancers and non-profits. The website also mentions hospitality and the medical professions. Thanks to experience gained in large audit and advisory firms, it can serve multinationals too, usually for ad hoc assistance, temporary replacement or special projects. The office also works for its peers. As an ITAA-certified accountant and tax adviser, it can prepare the accountant's statement for other offices and work with them to ensure continuity.

The core task is bookkeeping: full processing, interim figures and reports, and preparing the annual accounts. Clients choose the frequency of reporting, monthly, quarterly or yearly. Those who keep their own books can also limit the service to a review and filing by the office. On tax, it prepares VAT returns as well as personal income tax and corporate tax returns, with tax planning that it presents as central.

The consulting strand deals with the life stages of a business: a takeover to expand a company, a sale, the end of a self-employed activity and business valuation. Since 1 September 2018, collaboration has run through WinBooks Connect, a digital accounting platform. Clients scan or photograph their invoices, add documents and send them to the accountant, with a manual in Dutch and French. The platform can be linked to the client's own tools, such as Billit, Teamleader or Zoho. The office stresses that it digitises to make certain flows easier and faster without losing contact: it remains reachable by phone and office visits remain possible during opening hours.

The website also publishes tips and templates, along with practical articles, for example on reverse-charge VAT or the limitation period for an unpaid invoice.
