FK BOEKHOUDING

FK Boekhouding is an accounting and tax advisory office on Port Arthurlaan in Ghent. It draws on experience built up since 1999. Its founder started as an assistant bookkeeper at Van Heyghen Staal, became its chief accountant and then the group's financial controller, before completing a BIBF traineeship, opening a first office on Sint-Salvatorstraat, obtaining accreditation and incorporating the company. The office later moved to Francisco Ferrerlaan and then to its current premises.

Its approach combines personal contact with modern tools. Each client has a file manager who can be reached directly, without a ticket system, and the office says it usually replies within 24 hours. The intake meeting for a new client costs 150 euros, deducted from the first invoice if the client signs up. The office receives visitors on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 4 pm, and its website exists in Dutch, French, English and Turkish.

For start-ups, FK Boekhouding promises registration with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises and VAT activation within five days. It drafts and files the articles of association, advises on the legal form, prepares the financial plan, assists with opening the account and paying up the capital, arranges membership of a social insurance fund and checks start-up subsidies and the insurance needed. The bookkeeping connects to the client's platform, whether they use Odoo, Billit or Onfact.

The accounting and tax side covers digitising the administration, VAT returns, interim balance sheets, annual accounts filed with the National Bank, personal income tax and corporate income tax returns, cost structure analysis and financing studies. During a tax audit, the office gathers the documents, accompanies the client during the audit and defends their positions.

International VAT is a strength: intra-community listing, VAT grouping for groups of companies, foreign VAT refunds, import and export, customs declarations, the One Stop Shop for e-commerce, special sector schemes and advance ruling requests. The office also handles full payroll: contracts, Dimona declarations, payslips, holiday pay, end-of-year bonuses, alternative remuneration, company cars and quarterly social security returns.

For wealth planning, it calculates the optimal salary-dividend ratio each year, uses directors' bonuses, the liquidation reserve and supplementary pensions through the company, and advises on property acquisition, current accounts, loans to the company and gifts.
