Deg & Partners is an advisory firm in accounting, management and tax, with an office on rue Waelhem in Schaerbeek. The firm was founded in 1992 by Emmanuel Degrève and accredited by the professional institute in 2002. Originally set up in Charleroi, it has grown to a significant national size, with a presence throughout French-speaking Belgium. It presents itself as created by and for entrepreneurs, and positions itself as a tax optimisation specialist.

The founder is a commercial engineer with a master's in tax management from the Solvay Business School. A tax adviser, he chairs the Forum For the Future foundation, sits on the National Council of the institute of accountants and tax advisers, teaches at the Belgian Chamber of Accountants and gives talks on optimisation when incorporating. He also headed the office of the deputy State Secretary to the Finance Minister in charge of fighting tax fraud. The firm is managed by a committee of supervisors and partners, and funds staff training at the Solvay Business School, EPHEC and the Belgian Chamber of Accountants.

Clients come mainly from the liberal professions and the world of artists and socio-cultural associations. The website lists medical professions, from doctors to midwives, physiotherapists and osteopaths, consultants, engineers and IT specialists, lawyers, bailiffs and notaries, architects, contractors, estate agents and developers, as well as musicians, authors and actors. The firm also works for traders and property holding companies. Each client group has its own accounting and tax team, and a file manager for doctors often follows other doctors.

In bookkeeping, Deg & Partners sets up the chart of accounts and file organisation, handles formalities, keeps, supervises and closes the books, installs reporting tools and prepares and files the annual accounts. It carries out the statutory assignments reserved for accountants, private and court-appointed expert work, and the special reports required by law on conversion, merger, demerger or issue of shares below fractional value.

On tax, the firm prepares and checks VAT returns, calculates advance payments, manages directors' pay and prepares personal, legal entities and non-resident tax returns. It checks assessments after they are issued, sets up pay packages, optimises through copyright income, stock option plans or individual pension commitments, holds strategy meetings during the year and defends clients during audits. Its tax specialists work around three pillars: professional, wealth and social.

The firm also supports business start-up, growth and the search for financing, and gives legal and social advice, such as drafting leases and transfer agreements or handling legal filings.
