ACCOUNTANCY AND TAX SERVICES

A&T Services, short for Accountancy and Tax Services, is a firm of accountants and tax advisers on Nederkouter, in the heart of Ghent, easy to reach by public transport or by car. The company is registered with the ITAA under number 50.029.061. The office has existed since the 1980s and set out from the start to stand apart through a personal approach. It now describes its clients as loyal, built on long-standing trust.

The team is deliberately compact: three permanent staff and two partners, both certified tax accountants. The firm applies a four-eyes principle: each file is followed by two fixed contact persons, which ensures correct handling and continuity when someone is away. Where needed, the office calls on external fellow tax specialists. It says it works proactively, follows files promptly and replies quickly to questions.

Its clients are sole traders, companies and liberal professions. The firm has an unusual specialisation, notarial accounting, which follows its own rules for third-party accounts and the monitoring of funds held in trust. It also supports start-ups at launch: drafting a business plan, reviewing articles of association and completing details with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.

For accounting, A&T Services processes the client's books, prepares or checks VAT returns, draws up interim results and discusses them with the client, then prepares and files the annual accounts and minutes. The firm chooses with each client the system that suits best, traditional or digital bookkeeping. It wants accounting to be a useful working tool that shows where things stand, the opportunities and the bottlenecks, and to relieve business owners of the resulting administrative obligations.

The tax side includes personal income tax and corporate income tax returns, optimisation between private assets and the company, and advice on VAT and direct taxes. Based on the accounts and interim results, the firm estimates the expected tax and points out opportunities for tax benefits. It assists or represents clients during tax audits and drafts their tax objections. It also warns clients in advance of the tax formalities to complete.
