SOCOFINAM is a firm of accountants and certified tax advisers on place des Jardins de Baseilles in Erpent, part of Namur. The office is close to the E411 motorway and the chaussée de Marche, has underground parking and travels to clients throughout Wallonia and Brussels. Its multidisciplinary team brings together several certified accountants and tax advisers, each with at least five years of experience. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 5 pm.

The firm describes itself as an expertise and advisory company in tax law, finance, accounting law, company law and business law more broadly, organised around eleven subject areas. Its mission runs from turning a project into a self-employed activity, through incorporation, business development and structuring professional and private assets, to a sale or transfer to the next generation. Team members trained at the École supérieure des sciences fiscales, among others, and have worked in the tax administration and at audit firms.

In accounting, SOCOFINAM supports the future entrepreneur's strategic thinking, the design of a business model, the incorporation financial plan and dealings with the notary, including complex clauses such as shareholder agreements or split ownership of shares. It negotiates bank files, designs an optimised pay package, keeps the general accounts, sets up cost accounting where needed and prepares interim statements and reports for Belgian or international groups.

Tax advice covers corporate income tax, the director's personal income tax, the tax aspects of the annual accounts, registration duties and VAT, with follow-up of European directives and rulings. The firm also handles tax disputes: dealings with local tax offices, the Special Tax Inspectorate and tax collectors, replies to notices of adjustment, tax settlements and assistance in court proceedings alongside tax lawyers.

Property taxation sets it apart. The firm advises on buying as an individual or through a company, split ownership, taking property out of a company, intra-group transfers and real securities.
