FISCORUM

Fiscorum is a firm of accountants and tax advisers on Rijvisschepark in Zwijnaarde, south of Ghent. The team is led by Hendrik Huys, a certified tax accountant, and Elke Gielens. The office can be reached by car via the motorway, with free parking at the door, and by bike via the Ghent-Kortrijk cycle highway that runs past the building. It is open Monday to Thursday from 8.30 am to 5 pm and on Friday from 8.30 am to 4 pm.

The firm makes the personal relationship its main asset. Each client has a fixed person of trust who knows them and tailors the service to their situation, and the relationship starts with a free first meeting. Fiscorum works for start-ups, sole traders and SMEs, and takes on either part of the administration or the follow-up of the full books. Its services are automated, so clients can work with it fully online.

Bookkeeping from A to Z goes beyond data entry. The firm records and processes receipts and invoices, then explains the figures to the client, because figures alone are not always clear. It prepares interim statements and year-end closings, as well as the annual accounts. Online bookkeeping runs on Yuki: clients e-mail their documents to their file or upload them straight to the portal, with no printing or binders.

Tax advice starts from a joint analysis of the figures. In these meetings, the firm reviews the full tax picture, from VAT to corporate and personal income tax, to adjust and optimise the file. It describes Belgian tax legislation as a real maze through which it guides clients during the financial year.

Start-ups are supported in their first steps: incorporation formalities, drawing up a financial plan, applying for a VAT number and joining a social insurance fund. On the legal side, Fiscorum assists businesses at start-up and in day-to-day management, and sees mergers, demergers and restructurings through, handling follow-up with the notary and publications in the Belgian Official Gazette relating to legal changes.

E-invoicing becomes mandatory in Belgium from 1 January 2026. The firm offers several Peppol solutions and works with each client to find the one that best suits their business. Fiscorum is also registered by the Flemish authorities as an approved provider for the SME wallet, which lets SMEs and self-employed people have part of the cost of its training and advice subsidised, up to 7,500 euros of support per year.
