Costmasters is an accounting firm of accountants on avenue de Saturne in Uccle, in the green south of Brussels. It was founded in 1994 by Charles Markowicz, an accountant registered with the ITAA, court-appointed expert and accredited mediator, after seven years in finance roles at international companies, Darty and L'Oréal. The business started with audit, management control and financial management before the accounting services grew, which according to the firm gives it a good understanding of SME owners' daily lives.
Costmasters is organised around two areas. The first is accounting and tax for companies and non-profits. The firm does not stop at VAT and tax returns: it ensures legal obligations are met efficiently, seeks tax optimisation within the law and offers tailored reporting tables to support decisions. It works with digital solutions that avoid travel and offers a tax health check. Most of its clients are owners working alone in their company, and the firm also looks at their personal situation.
Several sectors receive specific services. Professional, cultural or sports non-profits, which have income, costs and staff, receive accounting and VAT support, dashboards, project reporting and cash monitoring, for small and large associations alike. The firm also handles the taxation of law firms and other service providers, and supports construction companies and property holding companies, which need overall and site-by-site monitoring.
For SMEs that cannot hire a finance director, Costmasters developed CVFO, a virtual part-time finance director service available from two hours a month. It brings financial management skills in small doses, during growth phases as well as in difficult times.
The second area is a dispute resolution centre for accounting and financial matters. Since 1996, the firm has acted as a court-appointed expert for Belgian courts, or as a technical adviser for people and companies involved in disputes. Its accredited mediators, trained in civil and commercial mediation, favour amicable solutions, for example in a dispute between shareholders or with a former partner, without losing sight of their clients' interests.
The website also publishes topical analyses, such as a page on the new tax on capital gains on financial assets introduced by the law of 6 April 2026, explaining the importance of the reference value at 31 December 2025 for unlisted shares and offering company valuations for that purpose.
